Your home away from home...

We were featured in Vogue magazine as a 'haven' for in-the-know locals as well as visitors from around the world. We restored this property to highlight its historic elements and charm while bringing in modern standards of comfort.

Indulge in Contemporary Southern Cuisine...

We aim to please with down-to-earth Southern cooking. Think Grandma's cooking, but healthier and with the finest of ingredients from our local farms and gardens.

Our Hotel at a Glance

Named after a prominent general in the French & Indian War, the General Lewis is comprised of 24 luxurious rooms and suites in a restored 1834 and 1928 historic building.

The East wing is an 1834 historic residence, and the West wing was built onto the residence and made into a hotel in the 1920s.

You will find that no room in the Inn is alike.

Each room has its own distinct personality, including different period antiques and art. We invite you to choose which room will suit you best!

"Perfect mix of history and luxury. Smiley staff, delicious coffee, voluptuous beds, ornate energy, overall dreamy stay. Boutique hotel and they keep the vacant rooms open for wandering! Truly a dreamers dream.

Bar is open 5-11 every. Single. Night. And the drinks are great. Housekeeping staff is respectful and impeccable...  Parking is never a problem. There’s a gorgeous garden and courtyard at the guest’s disposal. Feels like a home away from home every time I stay."
